L’Hotel Du Lac

L’Hotel Du Lac

OVERVIEW

An auberge hotel located in the heart of the scenic Okubiwako (deep lake) area of Nagahama. The facility is located on a peninsula, facing a shoreline street lined with cherry trees that has been selected as one of Japan’s 100 Best Cherry Blossom Spots. It houses 15 rooms, each of which offers an ambiance of spacious luxury. Guests can enjoy the stunning views of Lake Biwa and the “sacred island” of Chikubushima.

At the restaurant, SOWER, which offers “KOHOKU cuisine,” the menu interprets the local flavors of “wind and soil” with dishes made from fresh, seasonal ingredients from the region. The executive chef, Coleman Griffin, who has a background as a sous chef at the two-Michelin-star restaurant, INUA, in Tokyo—a venue famed as one of the most difficult reservations to secure globally and originating from Denmark’s renowned restaurant noma—brings his expertise to the table, carefully crafting each dish.
