At present, public comments are not enabled on our website, thus we do not collect any personal information from visitors for such forms of social content.

Contact Form Data

Visitors who submit personal data via the contact form on our website are asked to include personal information such as name and email address for the sole purpose of allowing us to respond to the inquiry. This data will be kept internally only for this purpose and will not be shared with any 3rd parties, services, etc. Names or email addresses will never be used to add visitors to mailing lists or any form of solicitation.

Media

All photos used on our website are provided by ourselves, the Nagahama Tourism Association, Nagahama City, or local media providers with explicit consent for public usage, and in accordance with all local privacy laws regarding persons appearing in photos. In the event that any person wishes to remove a photo in which their likeness appears from our website, please contact kankou@kitabiwako.jp to request removal.

Cookies

As there are no public user accounts, comments, or eCommerce features, cookies are only used minimally on our site for security to identify potential malicious behavior, and for site features to retain your selected content preferences. Collected security information expires after 1 day, and includes no personal data, but rather anonymous IP address data, used only to ban addresses engaging in malicious behavior.

Embedded content from other websites

Embedded content may include maps from Google, Media from Youtube or similar services, as well as Instagram posts from our own public Instagram profile. Google services and Maps may track GPS data depending on your device settings, while maintaining compliance with GDPR and local regulators by properly anonymizing any data collected.

Who we share your data with

No personal data is shared with any outside parties. Only website administrators have access to this data, unless your contact form email is directed to an outside party (such as a local partnered hotel) in which case we may end up forwarding the correspondence to the person most capable of answering your inquiry.

How long we retain your data

Personal data received via contact form will be retained as long as we have reason to believe that potential correspondence may still be required for unresolved matters or open questions. Typically after 1 calendar year, archived personal data will be deleted from storage.

What rights you have over your data

If you have submitted contact form messages, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Contact form submissions are parsed through Google recaptcha anti-spam check during the submission process, and only via secure encrypted transmission without any external retention of said data.

ReCaptcha V3 by Google may monitor the following to provide a safety score to filter out potential spam:

  • Referrer URL
  • Operating system
  • Cookies Mouse movements/keyboard strokes
  • Length of pauses between actions
  • Device settings (e.g. language or location)
